Launching of “Office of International Affairs (OIA)” at UAP

 

The launching of the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at University of Asia Pacific (UAP) was officially held on May 10, 2018. The chief guest of the event was His Excellency, Mr. Sonam T. Rabgye, Ambassador of Royal Embassy of Bhutan.

As special guests of the event, UAP hosted Director of American Center and Public Affairs Officer of American Embassy, Mr. Nicholas Papp. Ms. Julie Nickles, Cultural Affairs Officer and Mr. Kelly Ryan, Assistant Cultural Affairs Officers from US Embassy also accompanied him. The Project Manager of International Education Services from British Council, Mr Tirtho Mahmood was also present as a special guest of the event.

Professor Dr. Md. Shariful Islam, Convener, Strategic Planning Committee, Board of Trustees, UAP welcomed the audience in the beginning which was followed by the presentation by the Director of OIA, Dr. Nehreen Majed on the visions of the Office of International Affairs with current status of international endeavors pursued by different departments at UAP. All the guests encouraged the initiative and placed their remarks about future collaborative opportunities. The Vice Chancellor of UAP, Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury and Chairman of Board of Trustees, UAP, Mr. Monzoor Ahmed Chowdhury shared their visions on the event. With the establishment of OIA, UAP intends to initiate and facilitate the academic and research collaborations with foreign Universities and other organizations. The office also intends to provide a platform to utilize further opportunities for student/ faculty exchange programs.
